Superhero Trailers Galore
It's only just dawned on me how many Superhero films are getting made since the Dark Knight. Iron man, Thor, Captain America, Green Lantern, new Batman movie and now a Spider-man reboot. What I don't understand about this trailer is that the movie seems done. This trailer seems to show a completed film as it includes scenes spanning the entire movie. Then why in Jebus' name is it being released in July 2012? I know for a fact that the filming is done on the film as it only took 90 days from December 2010. It does not take over a year to edit and market a film. This blatant attempt to battle with Batman for the "gritty" superhero film of summer 2012 is just misguided, mainly just beacause this film will lose at that. Anyway rant over now onto the trailer; I mentioned in my comic book adaption list that I was skeptical about emma stone as Gwen Stacey as it is quite a serious role and from this trailer it seems my skepticism was well founded as I constantly expect her to say something funny. That's the problem with actress's who start their careers just in adolescent comedy films, it takes a hell of a lot of acting to portray yourself as a "serious" actress. Also she looks very strange with Blonde hair.
To be perfectly honest, spiderman didn't need a gritty reboot, I mean of course it needed a lot of de-capification since the 3rd film with that f***ing awful dance number and emo fringe but the quirkyness of spiderman has always been whats drawn people to it. Not the angsty "Urgh being a superhero is such a responsibility, and I really fancy this girl and wah wah wah". Let the Dark Knight have all the gravelly-voiced serious stuff as the hero is wearing some crazy bullet proof black suit. This guy is wearing bright red and blue spandex; has anyone ever been taken seriously in spandex? Of course this is all speculation and the film may blow me away and Andrew Garfield as the new Peter Parker sure may be a perfect choice and the fact that it is more closely mirroring the comics is a choice that may work in their favour, but trying to place a realistic angle on a man who swings around with super-human powers just doesn't seem like a great plan. Although that, obviously mirror's edge inspired, first-person rooftop running scene, although terribly CGI'd, actually looked pretty cool and shows this film may still add some flourish to a film that seemed to take the character to his limits in the last trilogy. Again, watch this space...
